Leonard Holmboe
Leonard Christian Borchgrevink Holmboe (15.10.1859 i Kragerø - 14.3.1939 i Chicago) var sønn av Johan Anton Holmboe (29.12.1828 i Buksnes- 7.9.1892) og Karen Dorothea Biørn (29.11.1830 i Kragerø- 20.2.1870 i Oslo). Gift 14.10 1882 i Chicago med Hannah Birgitte Pettersen (1862-14.4.1931). Barn: Astrid (1883-1966), Ralph Holmboe (1885-1960), Harold Holmboe (1886-1972), Wilford Holmboe (1888-1947).
Leonard Holmboe ble utdannet ved Christiania Tekniske Skole 1879.

Leonard Holmboe spent fifty years with the Illinois Steel Company. Holmboe was reared in Christiania, where he also attended the local technical collage. After graduation in 1879 he sat out at once, despite strong family opposition, for America, and went immidiately to Chicago. In the fall of 1880 he took employment with the Illinois Steel Company, then called North Chicago Rolling Mill Company. He remained with this firm until his retirement in 1931, becoming assistant chief engineer in 1889 and chief engineer in 1898. After retiring Holmboe continued as consulting engineer.
Leonard Holmboe ble utnevnt til ridder av St. Olavs orden.
